In my car on the way home, I feel a little less impatient that the heater is so slow to warm up…I’ve visited a lot of poverty programs over the years, and this one lacks the sense that the impoverished are someone “other.” It’s in the DNA of the task before them: Everyone has to wash dirty socks.
Humans can’t survive without other humans. We need to help one another.
